For more than four decades Sheila has served as a transformative leader in education, corporate, and non-profit organizations.  An American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow, she recently served as Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Rhode Island College where she led in such areas as productivity and efficiency review, contract negotiations, and change management. In her previous roles as academic leader, she worked with her colleagues at several institutions like Rust College, LeMoyne-Owen College, and Bethune-Cookman University to bring about transformational change in areas such as general education, honors programs, international studies, and gerontology. She has been principal investigator and/or assisted faculty with funding from such organizations as the National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, Department of Labor, Andrew Mellon/Jessie Ball du Pont Foundation, Philip Morris Foundation, and Florida Humanities totaling nearly seven million dollars.
As a corporate leader, Sheila was co-founder and partner with Immeasurable Favor, LLC, dba Right at Home Health Services. She led the marketing/business development area of the start-up company which began with no employees and no clients and within two years the company grew to more than one hundred employees and nearly as many clients. Starting with a minimal investment after three years of establishing the company it was sold with a 500% ROI.
Sheila is Founder and President of the Black Rose Foundation for Children.  Established as a legacy of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, the mission of the foundation is to provide resources to organizations seeking to empower underserved children, through programs, services, and advocacy. Now in its twentieth-year anniversary, the foundation has helped establish five non-profits, issued thousands in scholarships, and served more than one thousand children with its services and advocacy activities.
